Climate Change and Air Emission Assessments

Carbon Emission Assessment and Management

It is required by law (O. Reg. 452/09) to prepare and submit a carbon emission report if your activity (or activities) is covered under the regulation and the activity either releases 10,000 tonnes or more of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in a year or exceeds the reporting threshold listed for specific compounds in the regulation. Our air emission specialist will help you identify the potential sources of carbon emission, estimate the carbon footprint of your business and provide the best, practical, efficient and cost effective solutions to help reduce the carbon emission of your business.

Radon Testing

Radon gas is invisible, odourless and tasteless radioactive gas released when uranium in soil and/or bedrock breaks down. It can enter houses through cracks and accumulate to high levels in a confined space that can present a health risk including the cause of lung cancer. A study by Health Canada (Health Canada, 2012) show that, in Ontario, 13 of 36 Health Regions had more than 10% of the homes tested above the guideline. We can help you test radon level of your home and, if exceeds, recomend the best radon reduction plan for you to lower the radon level. Radon remediation is now covered under Tarion warranty (Tarion's Coverage)

Indoor Air Quality Testing

Indoor air pollutants can greatly affect human health. The health risks posed by specific indoor pollutants are summarized in the Residential Indoor Air Quality Guidelines published by Health Canada (Health Canada). Our experienced air specialists will collect air samples and submit the samples to an accredited analytical laboratory for analysis. Having your home air tested will bring you peace of mind.

Air Emission Assessment

Ontario Regulation 419/05 (O. Reg. 419/05) specifies that any equipment and operations that can potentially release contaminants to atmosphere are subject to approval from the Ontario Ministry of Environment (MOE). Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs)(formerly Certificate of Approval - C of A) from the MOE should be obtained prior to the installation and operation of the equipment and/or a facility.

Some example equipment and/or facilities subject to the MOE approval include, but not limited to, laboratories, machine shops, painting booths, welding stations, chemical storage and redistribution facilities, wood processing facilities, manufacturing facilities, gas stations, large heating/cooling and air exchange systems, etc.

Our air specialists are experienced with air emission assessment and air dispersion modeling and have prepared the ECA applications with Emission Summary and Dispersion Modeling (ESDM) reports for over 20 facilities including machine shops, a paint manufacturing plant, a powder coating booth, concrete manufacturing facilities, machine manufacturing plants, a wood processing plant, gas stations, fuel tank farms, a university campus, emergency generators, a firework manufacturing/re-distribution facility, contaminated groundwater collection and treatment systems, etc.
