Permit To Take Water (PTTW)
Ontario Regulation 387/04 (O. Reg. 387/04)requires that, with the limited number of exceptions, all water users who daily withdraw more than 50,000 liters of water from either surface or ground water sources must apply for a Permit To Take Water (PTTW) from the Ontario Ministry of Environment (MOE). For a Category 3 PTTW application, a hydrogeology study report prepared by a designated hydrogeologist, i.e., a Professional Geoscientist of Ontario (P. Geo.), must also be submitted as part of a PTTW application for MOE review.
Our licensed hydrogeologists have helped clients successfully obtaining PTTWs for municipal infrastructure construction, storage tanks and pipeline installation, water well testing and operation, land development, quarry and sandpit operation, contaminated groundwater extraction and treatment, contaminated soil excavation, etc. Our hydrogeologists can complete all the required hydrogeological assessment, estimate the maximum daily water taking amount, prepare and submit the PTTW application package, and comunicate with the MOE on behalf of you to successfully obtain the required PTTW for your project.
Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA)
Ontario Regulation 419/05 (O. Reg. 419/05) indicates that any equipment and operations that can potentially release contaminants to atmosphere are subject to approval and an Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) must first be obtained from the Ontario Ministry of Environment (MOE) prior to the installation and/or operation. The equipment and facilities subject to the MOE approval include, but not limited to, machine shops, painting booths, welding stations, chemical storing/distributing facilities, laboratories, wood processing facilities, concrete manufacturing facilities, gas terminals and services stations, large heating/cooling and air exchange systems (rooftop units), etc.
Our air specialists have conducted air emission assessments and prepared ECA (formerly C of A) applications for over 20 facilities, including machine shops, paint manufacturing plants, painting booths, concrete manufacturing facilities, machine manufacturing plants, wood processing plants, gas terminals and services stations, fuel storage tank farms, a university campus, firework manufacturing facilities, groundwater collection and treatment systems, etc. We can, at a minimum cost, complete the required air emission assessments, prepare ECA application packages including the ESDM reports, submit the applications to the MOE and communicate with the MOE on behalf of you to secure the approval of the ECA for your facility.
